![]() ![]() These modes are available throughout the game, not just to new game plus playthroughs. ![]() That includes two more difficulty modes, too: Hard 2 and Survival 2, basically harder and survival-er versions of the original modes. New game plus becomes available once the main storyline, “I’m Never Giving Up,” has been finished and can be played at any difficulty level. Jeff Ross, Days Gone’s director, said the new game plus mode was the player community’s most requested feature since the game launched on PlayStation 4 in April. It allows players to start the story over with the better firepower, faster motorcycle, and faction cred that they built up in a previous playthrough. If you've every read "Misery" by Stephen King, you'll know what I mean here.Days Gone’s next update will add a new game plus mode one week from Friday, Sony’s Bend Studio announced this morning. You can't just "Deus Ex Machina" him after I see him blow himself up. If Boozer needs to die - he needs to die. I understand they wanted to create drama/interest - but their characters just make no sense whatsoever.Īlso, if you kill a major character - kill a major character. That's just super-duper POOR story-telling skills by the creators of the game. How about being grateful he didn't give up, and found you?Īnd after all that, we find out she never stopped loving him, and she has sex with him. ![]() Your husband, who you thought was dead because of the Zombie apocalypse, manages to track you down, after 2 years of searching for you.Īnd the only thing on your mind is he's in the way of your research?! How the hell can Sarah be such a heartless harpy? So keep that in mind if you decide to start playing this game. ![]() It's a long to very long game.Įven if you only do the main story missions - it will still take you 30+ hours to finish. On the other hand, this is not a short game. And if you're doing too much side missions, and they start to feel repetitive, you can always progress the main story line. On the one hand, it doesn't feel like a chore. Very long, although doesn't seem very repetitive. I will get into specifics at the bottom of this review - as it requires spoilers to the plot. Really worthwhile to stop and enjoy the view sometimes. The characters, especially main characters, are very well made.Īnd the view in many places is just beautiful. You can also paint it - but that's more cosmetical. You can craft items, like grenades or medikits.Īnd you can buy/earn improvements to your bike. You can earn or purchase better weapons, and the weapons have categories (main, sidearm, special) and each category has subcategories (shotgun, rifle, machine gun, etc.) You can improve your basic skills: Health, Stamina and Focus. You have 3 skill trees with around 6 levels of improvement each. You keep finding new ways to improve, throughout the game. The character progression in the game is done very well. Compared to 50 hours I played of Mad Max, at least half of which felt repetitive. I've played around 60 hours of Days Gone, and it only started to feel repetitive towards the very end. Mad Max is a game that feels very repetitive and grind-y, very fast. One of the biggest pitfalls games like Days Gone (or Tomb Raider/Mad Max) fall into, is repetitiveness. Just like in Tomb Raider.Īnd you can drive around on motorcycles. You run around fighting Zombies with firearms and melee weapons. This game is basically combination of Tomb Raider and Mad Max. It doesn't reach the "amazing game" criteria.īut never drops to "mediocre game" either. ![]()
